A town in eastern Corrientes, on the Uruguay River and RN 14. It began as the Jesuit reduction of Nuestra Señora de los Tres Reyes de Yapeyú, founded in 1627, and it is where General José de San Martín was born, in 1778.
It is not an Iberá portal: to reach the park you take RN 14 and RN 119 to Mercedes, and from there RP 40 to the Uguay and Laguna Iberá portals.
Yapeyú is not a portal of the park: it is one of the towns you set out from to reach them. The portals, with their wildlife and access roads, are in the portal guide.
