Its spectacular leap when hooked earned it the nickname "river tiger". An active predator, it chases schools of fish with remarkable speed and strength. Its golden color is unmistakable under clear water.
Behaviour
A migratory predator. It travels upriver in spring and downriver in autumn. Active in flowing waters, especially at dawn and dusk.
How and when to see it
September to March (peak October to November). Portals Río Corriente and Ituzaingó. Always catch-and-release.
