A bottom-dwelling, nocturnal and territorial fish. Its spotted skin camouflages it perfectly against the sandy bottom. It is the largest fish-eating predator of the Iberá rivers. Catching one is an achievement for any sport angler.
Behaviour
Nocturnal and an ambusher. It shelters in deep pools during the day. It comes out to hunt medium-sized fish at dusk.
How and when to see it
Year-round. Best in winter and autumn when the water levels drop. Portals Río Corriente and Ituzaingó.
