The Greater Iberá

Complete Crossing of the Wetlands

NatureBirdingPhotographyDepthAstrotourismFishingWildlifeCycling Tours

To truly understand Iberá. A route covering the park's greatest diversity of ecosystems: grasslands, palm groves, native woodland, deep marshes and vast open lagoons. The trip that completely changes your perspective on Argentine biodiversity.

Iberá is not a single destination: it is an imposing 1.3-million-hectare system with radically different landscapes that can only be understood by traveling them in depth. Each portal tells a different chapter of Corrientes geography.

The ideal route begins by landing in Posadas. From there, little more than an hour on the road leads to Ituzaingó, the doorstep of Portal Cambyretá. Starting in the north provides the perfect context to enter the rewilding epic: understanding the conservation work and the biological projects before watching free-roaming wildlife in the following stages gives every sighting another dimension.

The middle stage traces the cultural transition of the trip towards Concepción and Portal Carambola. Here the surroundings change visibly every 50 kilometers, jumping from endless grasslands to the pristine central marshes, passing through the traditions of a historic town founded in 1796 and the wooded savannas of Parque Nacional Mburucuyá.

The closing stage in Carlos Pellegrini (Portal Laguna Iberá) crowns the crossing with abundant wildlife in view and very comfortable infrastructure. Having first traveled the wildest corners of the park makes contemplating the immensity of the lagoon a much deeper emotional and naturalist experience.
