Wildlife of Portal Capivari

At nightfall in the wetlands with tall grasslands. Portals Laguna Iberá, Uguay and Capivari are the best sites to find it.

Practically invisible under normal conditions. The best records come at dawn by listening for its call, a fast, rhythmic trill, in the waterlogged grasslands of Portal Capivari and Laguna Iberá.

Year round but rarely seen. Requires very slow, silent navigation along narrow channels with dense vegetation. Portal Laguna Iberá and Capivari are the best sites.

Dawn, with slow, silent navigation along narrow channels lined with reeds. Portal Capivari and the interior of the Carambola marshes are the best sites.

Present year round at all 10 portals of the park. Sightings practically guaranteed from boats, kayaks and boardwalks. At Portal Laguna Iberá they swim by the dozen around the pier. Also very frequent at Carambola (calm streams), San Nicolás (boarding coves) and Galarza.

All day. Easily located by paying attention to its powerful howls at dawn and dusk, which carry for more than 1.5 km.

Dawn and dusk at any portal. Practically guaranteed at Laguna Iberá and Galarza all year round.

Present year-round. The spectacular flowering occurs from November to March, carpeting entire hectares in violet across the calm bays. The months from May to October (autumn and winter) are ideal for navigating and exploring the dense network of floating peat mats by boat or kayak.
