Wildlife of Portal Laguna Iberá

Year round. Sightings are extraordinary events. The best chances come on night safaris in portals with dense stretches of closed woodland. Portals Mburucuyá and Laguna Iberá (Sendero de los Montes Nativos) have the most consistent records.

Present year round at all 10 portals of the park. Sightings practically guaranteed from boats, kayaks and boardwalks. At Portal Laguna Iberá they swim by the dozen around the pier. Also very frequent at Carambola (calm streams), San Nicolás (boarding coves) and Galarza.

Year round. Sightings are magical, chance events: slowly crossing an internal track in mid-morning or resting curled into a ball of fur in the fork of a tree. Portals Laguna Iberá and San Nicolás are the most productive.

Dawn along the edges of the wetland. Portals Uguay, San Nicolás and Laguna Iberá.

Dawn and dusk at any portal. Practically guaranteed at Laguna Iberá and Galarza all year round.

From November to March is the period of maximum splendor and flowering. It is found in shallow waters, sheltered bays and inner channels. It is a great attraction visible on the boat trips of Portal Laguna Iberá, the channels of Portal San Antonio and the water mirrors of Portal Galarza.

Year-round. The breeding season in spring and summer is the best time to see them. Portal Uguay and Laguna Iberá in the wet grasslands.

Year round. Best sightings in the early morning or at dusk, walking in complete silence along forest footpaths or the edges of wooded vehicle tracks. Portals Laguna Iberá and Mburucuyá are the most productive.
