Wildlife of Portal Galarza

Present year round at all 10 portals of the park. Sightings practically guaranteed from boats, kayaks and boardwalks. At Portal Laguna Iberá they swim by the dozen around the pier. Also very frequent at Carambola (calm streams), San Nicolás (boarding coves) and Galarza.

Dawn and dusk at any portal. Practically guaranteed at Laguna Iberá and Galarza all year round.

From November to March is the period of maximum splendor and flowering. It is found in shallow waters, sheltered bays and inner channels. It is a great attraction visible on the boat trips of Portal Laguna Iberá, the channels of Portal San Antonio and the water mirrors of Portal Galarza.

Year-round. The yellow fruit ripens in summer (January to March) and its tropical smell is perceptible from meters away, permeating the levee trail. The largest specimens, with leaves of 1 meter or more, are found on the levees of Portal Laguna Iberá and Portal Galarza.

Its moment of maximum splendor: January to March, when its flowering tints the roofs of the gallery forests golden yellow. Seen from the boat in the channels of Portal Laguna Iberá or Portal Galarza, an ibirapitá in flower is one of the most striking botanical postcards of the trip.

Year round, with greater presence in autumn and winter. Portals Laguna Iberá and Galarza, on the deeper lagoons.

Year-round, with greater abundance in autumn and winter when migratory individuals join. The open lagoons of Portal Laguna Iberá and Galarza are the best sites.

A scarce species in the Iberá, with isolated records. When it appears, it forages alone at the quiet shores of the lagoons of Portal Laguna Iberá and Galarza.
