Caá Catí ('forest of strong aroma' in Guaraní) was born in 1707 around a fort, and is one of the oldest towns in the province. Its first parish dates from 1757. The town's profile is markedly colonial, with manor houses from the late 19th century and their characteristic galleries.
It is a land of poets and writers who transcended provincial boundaries, and preserves three museums dedicated to its history and the work of its authors. It lies on the way north of the Grand Park, towards Portal San Antonio.
