Parish and Chapel of Nuestra Señora de Loreto (Our Lady of Loreto)

⛪ Loreto, Corrientes

Loreto's church holds a Jesuit-Guaraní image of the Virgin and Child, the heart of the town's faith.

Devotion to Our Lady of Loreto arrived with the towns relocated from the ancient missions in the early 19th century. The image of the Virgin and Child, carved in the Jesuit-Guaraní style, is preserved in the town's old chapel, declared a Provincial Historical Monument.

The Virgin rests on a circular base adorned with clouds and cherubs, her body covered by an ample carved mantle. Each December 10th, day of the Virgin of Loreto, the town accompanies her in procession.
