Founded on September 21, 1796 on a settlement called Yaguareté Corá ("jaguar corral" in Guaraní), Concepción is one of the oldest towns in the province. At the end of 1810, General Manuel Belgrano passed through here on his way to Paraguay, when the town was barely a dozen huts.
In 2019 it was declared a National Historic Town for its preserved town center. You can visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the old parish church where the national hero attended mass.
