Yacyretá, which in Guaraní means 'place where the moon shines', is the binational hydroelectric dam between Argentina and Paraguay on the Paraná River. It began generating power in September 1994 and is one of the most important in the country.
From the Visitor Center in Ituzaingó, guided tours depart with a photographic museum of the construction and a 360-degree cinema room. Tours are free and run daily; it's best to book in advance.
