It is one of the large snakes of the region and a formidable runner: in danger it trusts its speed rather than any threat display. It hunts frogs, lizards, rodents and birds on the forest floor.
Behaviour
Diurnal and terrestrial. It covers long distances in search of prey and shelters in hollows and under fallen logs.
How and when to see it
October to April, early in the morning. Crossing dirt roads between forest patches.
