It has no song of its own: it has a repertoire. It copies phrases from kiskadees, horneros, thrushes and whoever sings nearby, mixing them into an endless medley from the top of a post. It moves on the ground in long hops, tail cocked, as if the fields belonged to it.
Behaviour
Territorial and bold: it will chase off much larger birds. It eats insects and fruit, on the ground or in shrubs.
How and when to see it
All year round in open areas with shrubs and fenceposts. Spring is the festival: it sings for hours on end.
