The male shows two black tail feathers, broad and greatly elongated, shaped like a racket. On a body of about 20 cm, those feathers extend it to around 31 cm during the breeding season. It is one of the most sought-after targets for birders who travel to Iberá.
Behaviour
The male performs a spectacular courtship flight, displaying its tail feathers in rising waves. Eats insects in damp grasslands.
