It is the flamingo of Argentina: pale pink, with greyish legs and bright pink joints. It feeds with its head upside down, sweeping the shallows with its bill to filter small invertebrates. In the Ibera it is a seasonal luxury.
Behaviour
In groups, standing in open shallow water. It filters water and mud with its bill, sweeping side to side.
How and when to see it
Most arrive to spend the winter, June to August; outside those months the odd one may linger, but it is rare.
