Most barn swallows in the Ibera hatched in North America and fly more than ten thousand kilometres to spend our summer hunting insects over the marshes. In recent decades some have even begun staying to breed in Argentina, a map change scientists are following closely.
Behaviour
It hunts insects on the wing, low and fast, over water and grassland. Flocks gather over the marshes at dusk.
