While its relatives travel in flocks, the plumbeous ibis prefers solitude or a pair. It works the marsh edges sinking its curved bill into the mud for snails, frogs and larvae, and when something bothers it, it announces it with a trumpet blast heard a kilometre away.
Behaviour
It walks slow and upright through shallow water and wet grassland. It sleeps in trees, where it also nests.
