It is one of the most recently described Argentine birds: only in 2007 was it recognised as a species of its own, separated above all by voice. It breeds in central and western Argentina and in winter becomes common in the northern woodlands.
Behaviour
Restless, it works the foliage for tiny insects. The trill that names it is the best way to find it.

Winter visitor: it arrives from the south mainly from June to August; the rest of the year it is a rarity.
