A tyrant flycatcher of 16 to 18 cm with gray-olive plumage above and a bright yellow belly. The diagnostic feature is the very intense bright yellow supercilium, unique among the tyrant flycatchers of the Iberá, which have a white supercilium. The crown is grayish with a darker center. The wings are gray with yellowish edges. The bill is black. It inhabits forest edges, isolated trees over the water and the wooded shores of rivers and streams.
Behaviour
Solitary. It perches on exposed perches at the forest edge or in trees over the water, from where it sallies out to catch insects in the air. The song is a soft, descending whistle. A partial migrant in some parts of its range.
How and when to see it
Year-round. It is easily seen perched on exposed branches at the edges of the gallery forest and over the water. Portal Galarza and Laguna Iberá.
