A tanager of 17 to 18 cm with uniformly blue-gray plumage over the whole body. The wings and tail are a more intense blue. The bill is short and grayish. The eyes are dark. Very adaptable: it lives along gallery forest edges, in woodland, in the gardens of the ranch posts and in the wooded areas of the park gateways. One of the most abundant and versatile tanagers of northeastern Argentina.
Behaviour
Social and not very shy. It moves in groups of 5 to 20 individuals among the branches and canopy searching for fruit, flowers and some insects. It eats everything: from urundel and espinillo fruit to nectar and small invertebrates. Very adaptable to human-modified environments.
How and when to see it
Year-round in every portal. One of the easiest birds to photograph thanks to its lack of wariness and its striking coloration.
