It weighs less than a sheet of paper and lives in the forest tangles, where its dry trrr sounds all day. Finding it takes patience, but when it appears, the bright golden eye against the plain plumage makes it one of the most sought-after portraits in the Ibera.
Behaviour
Restless and confiding, it works the low and mid foliage in little hops, hunting tiny insects.
How and when to see it
All year round in woods and scrub. Stay still near its call: curiosity brings it in on its own.
