The ubiquitous and extremely noisy wren of Argentina. Uniform brown plumage above and whitish with brown streaks on the belly. The tail is short and held cocked at an angle. The bill is slightly curved. It measures only 11 to 12 cm. It is the bird with the greatest song intensity relative to its size in the Iberá: its voice is a torrent of musical notes, varied and powerful, that seems impossible to come from such a small bird. Omnipresent in every habitat with dense vegetation.
Behaviour
Active all day. It moves nimbly among the low and mid vegetation, the leaf litter and the dark places, searching for insects, spiders and small invertebrates. Very territorial and not very shy. It nests in holes, crevices and any available cavity. It is usually monogamous, though sometimes the male has more than one female in its territory.
How and when to see it
Year-round in absolutely every portal. It is heard from before dawn. Impossible not to detect by its song.
