You hear it far more than you see it: a deep, melancholic cuuu-uuu from inside the forest, exactly like the sound of blowing over a bottle. It walks the ground among dry leaves and only flies when it must, with noisy wingbeats.
Behaviour
Solitary or in pairs, terrestrial and discreet. It searches the forest floor for seeds and fallen fruit.
How and when to see it
All year round on forest trails, early in the morning. Walk slowly and watch the ground ahead.
